  • Two chapters; preface, written by Yao Duo in the year 1600, notes that he suffered from eye disease when he was young; an old military surgeon in Liaoyang gave him a prescription and it proved to cure the ailment; therefore, Yao recorded this prescription into his book; the locality might be Huangzhou because Yao was a judge in Huangzhou during this period. The text includes annotations in red, based on "shen yang fang", added by a Japanese reader.

  • -  原書不著撰人姓氏。卷端有饒鐸序云:「愚自早歲,觀書過度,患目旬月,遍求之醫,弗能愈。一日,先人樂志翁謂不肖曰:昔有一老軍,以眼科名世,還自遼陽,曾惠書一帙,寶藏久矣。不肖於是展誦三復,遂令醫者按方用藥,倏覺雙目,瞭然復初。先人又喜而謂之曰是書捷效如此,不可私於一己,異日倘得一官,當捐俸鏤板,以廣其傳,亦濟人利物之一端也。嗚呼!先人用心仁矣!今不肖幸而述,錄而鋟,亦不忘先人之命乎?」時鐸官黃州府通判,則原當於黃州。此本封回題:「刻太醫院增補古本明目良方,樹德堂梓行」,則應是樹德堂翻饒本,太醫院云云,亦樹德堂所託也。卷內有:「三友亭藏書」,「上住藏書」印記,又有日本人據神驗方朱校,知全書均與神驗方相同。按醫藏目錄載無名氏眼目神驗方一卷,疑即其書,饒鐸特改題為明目良方耳。饒鐸(序)萬曆二十八年 (1600).
